1940's to 1960's School & public librarians went separate ways. The Depression caused funding issues and competition. Separate Division for School Librarians was established in 1951 AASL.
D51 & MCPLD History
Early 1980's there were no school libraries in D51. Mesa County Libraries had a room with materials just for circulation to schools.
Orchard Mesa & DeBeque
Competition is no longer a luxury.
Recession is creating the need for collaboration.
